Flagstaff Family Photography-The Micklos Family

I had the honor of photographing Dana, my partner in Celebrations Studio, her husband, Jim, and his two, beautiful daughters Kalynn and Jamie. Jim, is the very reason our studio looks so amazing! He put hundreds of hours into our new space; I hope he knows how much we appreciate him! We had a great time exploring the southside of downtown Flagstaff!

Dana and Jim... these two are a great couple. Jim keeps everyone laughing, so much, that sometimes it was hard for me to focus since I was laughing so hard!

Here's my favorite of Dana! She owns Glamorous Occasions, and I credit her for the vision and development of Celebrations Studio! Without her, I would have never taken the leap. Thanks Dana!

Little sister, Kalynn. What a beautiful young lady!

Big sister, Jamie. She was reluctant to do the photo session, but I think we got some great images of her!

Sisters!

Love this modern family portrait.

Thomas Byers-Flamenco Guitarist

Thomas Byers gets his masters degree this weekend from NAU and is about to embark on an exciting venture of opening his own business of teaching guitar. His speciality is flamenco, and he is phenomenal! I've known Thomas for a few years, his wife, Amee, is my hair stylist and I would hear about him through her stories, and then I photographed their wedding last summer. All I can say about Thomas is he's one of the most talented, sweetest, genuine guys I've ever met and I am honored to now call him my friend. If you came to the Celebrations Studio Grand Opening party, you probably heard Thomas play for our event. In addition to giving private lessons, he is also available for playing at your wedding and reception, so give him a call! We headed out one afternoon to get some images for his new website. His masters recital is today! Congrats Thomas!

I had Thomas sit on this bench and play while I snapped a few images. I really thought he was going to get some tips! (We should have left the guitar case open! :)

I love this one of Thomas, he's just so sweet and easy to photograph!

Love the texture on this wall!

Congrats Thomas!

Martin Fagan-Irish Olympian

When Martin's Coach, Greg McMillan, contacted me to do Martin's photo session, I was pretty excited. THEN, I started doing a little internet research on Martin to try to get a feel for his style. Martin is a professional runner and Irish Olympian. I slowly started to find out he's been breaking records and is kind of like a rock star in the running world. Add to that my husband's admiration for him, and then suddenly, I was a ball of nerves! Martin is probably the most famous person I've ever photographed but more than anything, I really just wanted to get it right for him. But then Martin showed up for the session and he was one of the most humble, sweet, funny and gracious people I've ever met. We had a blast downtown Flagstaff looking for some edgy locations together. Here's only a few of my favorites from the session. Thanks Martin and good luck on all your upcoming races!

Martin's also famous for all his tattoos!

Wade Lashely's cover of Monsoon Magazine

Wade Lashely, singer and songwriter in Arizona, was chosen to be on the cover of Monsoon Magazine for November. It was great timing since we had just finished up a photo shoot for him before he took off for New Mexico and Austin, TX on a tour. Here's the cover and the inside story on Wade. He's an AMAZING musician so you should try to check him out the next time he's in Flagstaff. Congrats Wade!

My beautiful friend Ellie

Ellie has been waiting a long time for these photographs and I really want to thank her for her patience! I think they turned out beautiful, almost as beautiful as her giving, sweet soul. She is a tremendous friend and I am thankful she is a part of my life! You can check out the slideshow here. Here are some of my favorites from our wonderful day playing in the sunflowers!

Dr. Cyndi Banks's new book

Dr. Banks called me recently because she needed a photo for the back cover of her new book. It's going to be a book about the experience of institutionalization for juveniles in an institution in Alaska. She was wonderful to work with and had a beautiful home with collections from all her travels around the world. Aside from being busy with her SEVENTH book (seriously, talk about an Over-Achiever!), Cyndi is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Northern Arizona University where she teaches courses on a range of subjects with a special focus on criminal justice ethics, juvenile justice, gender and crime, as well as comparative criminology. Yes, that's a mouthful! More than anything, she was a lot of fun to work with. And look at those eyes! Wow! Which one would you choose for the back cover of her new book?

Cyndi kept telling me not to make her laugh...but she has a great smile! Thanks Cyndi-I had a great time!!

A little glamour in Flagstaff

Where Teva, cruiser bikes and Patagonia rule, people of Flagstaff hardly ever get dressed up. Well, I think everyone needs a little glamor in their life, right? At the same time, I needed, desperately, to learn how to use my new, nifty pocket wizards and a video light. My friends, Kim (Wedding Planner and Interior Designer) and Angie (Massage Therapist and mom to Nathan Jr), were kind enough to help me out. It was also fun just to goof around with the girls too! Thank you, thank you, thank you guys! I was hoping to give them both some images that were, as Kim would say, "just fabulous". This post also announces my new BIG images on the blog and a new look overall! Kim and Angie, you guys are the best and I hope you like them!

I love the warm light of a video light! We had all the lights in the room turned off and just this warm light flowing over Angie.

Pocket Wizards are awesome! However, I was VERY close to giving all three of them to our dog as a chew toy until last night! Turns out all I needed was a little patience and some friends with me cheering me on. I love this photo of Kim; she looks so urban!

We were joking after the session that this looked like an ad for a spa!

Kim keeps telling me that she's going to refuse to wear a veil when she gets married. She looks beautiful so she better just plan on it!

The green background was perfect for Angie's complexion. She has a beautiful profile!

Kim's a pro at modeling! She stared into the light for me for a long time! I hope she can see today:)

I love it when Kim flashes a natural smile!

Thanks again to Kim and Angie! You guys are the best for helping me out!!!
