Kauai Wedding-Part I { Kristen + J }

I had the honor of photographing Kristen and J's intimate wedding in Kauai this spring. I remember flying over the South Pacific and already falling in love with this beautiful island. Getting married in Kauai is a gift in itself, the beauty there is indescribable, and what words I've tried to convey to my friends and family, has ultimately failed to describe just what grace resides there. Because I was just so enchanted by the island's beauty, this post will have to be broken out in a few posts, so thanks for reading them! :)

Kristen and J chose a private residence for their ceremony and the property was just seeping with it's own charm and loveliness. The talented Kim Duncan of KD Event Designs was the event designer for this charming event, and she made this outdoor event elegant and beautiful. The property had a beautiful lawn so Kim choose a fairytale like tree to host the intimate reception dinner.

Kim designed all the paper products for the event including the menus, place cards and table markers. She really has an eye for the unique!

Kristen's ring was hand made by Jeff Karl Jewelers from a design the groom made. The diamonds from the rings were J's Grandmother's diamonds from her own wedding rings. I love recycled diamonds, and feel like the sentimental meaning behind them really add a layer of love.

The bride found all the unique glasses in various antique shops in Kauai. The vintage postcards were used in lieu of a guest sign in book. All guests wrote down messages to be read by the couple on their one year anniversary.

Chef Grant Carnes prepared a delightful and delicious meal prepared with all local ingredients including fresh fish from the South Pacific. Chef Grant is a sous chef at Keoki's Paradise, and is available for private functions and weddings.

I love this photo from above the reception at dusk, such a beautiful place! Can you image a more beautiful place to get married?

I can't wait to share more with you tomorrow about the ceremony and the beautiful bride and handsome groom!
